New Year, New Friends!

While I am writing this I am coming to the realization that in almost a month I am going to be in New Zealand with my very good friend Abbie. I get to spend a week and a half with her before she flies to Hawaii and then I am a solo-traveller with a mission to capture as much as that beautiful country as I can. A part of me wants to just fast-forward to the day I leave, but I pause and reflect on days like this one, a day off, to enjoy the weather and great company.

Kira makes me laugh.

She is quirky and will jump off of a stump for you and run into the sunset so I can capture this:

We drove up passed Tulalip to visit Kayak Point, just in time to see this setting sun. The fog on the bay made everything glow. It was incredible.

I usually never shoot beaches and sunsets, just because I feel like someone else has taken that same shot hundreds of times. Now looking back, I am really glad I get to keep this sunset forever. (:

2015, What A Year It Shall Be.

I hope everyone had a lovely new years! I got the pleasure of spending the night with two great people. I am really glad that we left the house party we were at to go to Gas Works Park. We scored with parking and got there at up the hill by 11:45, where people were lighting Chinese lanterns. I was too chilly to take many photos, but Stella captured this one!

I have to say, I have come to love the holidays more and more each year. Christmas was so laid back and it was so nice being able to relax at home. I got to spend it with my nieces and nephews, and that little Bengal angel of mine.

Lazzara is now two years old and is growing into her ears a lot more than this photo I found when we first got her.

img_4926.jpg

She is quite the little chatter box still, which I am grateful for. Has anyone had any experiences with having multiple bengals in one household? Our other boy cat moved out after Lazzara turned one. He didn't seem to want to share the space so he left to a neighbors house and is now content where he's at.

Here is my first adventure of the year. We hit golden hour at a whopping 3:45 pm in Snohomish where we found some mud. It was chilly but we captured some really amazing shots!

The Lovely Audree + Nick

When it comes to weddings, nothing is better than getting to help decorate and sneaking in some fun shooting while relieving some of your friends' stress. Back in October, I got the pleasure of going to Nick and Audree's wedding at the Curtis Hotel, in Denver, CO. It was such a beautiful event. I'll have a little place in my heart for this city forever.

Index Wall

Just before you reach Steven's Pass in the upcoming months, I recommend you stop in the town of Index. Drive slow, stop at the stop sign, and if you see someone outside their house, wave! I have a soft spot for this hike because it's not something you find on WTA or crawling with hipsters. It's a trek to get up the wall, but worth the view. Shooting Sunrise on Camano Island

Just because it's December does not mean one must stay inside– unless you still have been procrastinating putting up a Christmas tree. (*raised hand emojii) Thursday night I reached out to a fellow loyal instagrammer and we decided we'd go shoot sunrise up north. It was my first experience meeting up with a stranger at dark, as well as walking through the woods, but i'm happy to report I am still alive! ;) IMG_6106 (1)IMG_6115 (1)

This is Calvin Blond! Check out his instagram for moody, epic landscape photography and coffee! He took the shot of the baby doe who didn't want to eat the apple I tried to give him/her.

We drove around Camano Island and decided to head east–I was craving mountains after Wednesday's adventure up at Index Wall (blog post to come). We found a family of deer, fog, and some great views up by Pilchuck.

7 Photos that will get you ready for winter in the PNW.

Baby it's cold outside... and I am loving every second of it! Last week I drove up with Mio and Dexter (The adorable miniature Australian Shepard mix with an Instagram) to Lake Diablo, only this time we actually found the lookout! (Stay tuned for a reflections post on our first time up there.) The sun had already set behind the mountains, making for some beautiful tones on the water. lake diablo perspective north cascades

Now for those of you who don't know me, don't know this little plum of mine either. Stella and I have grown up taking photos together, whether it's adventuring around in a golf cart in Kalama, WA or jumping in and out of the car for roadside attractions. These were taken on Mountain Loop Highway, where we found this freezing lake that we had to trekk through.

Now that snow has fallen in town I am expecting my instagram feed to turn white, and I have to say I am beyond ready for this holiday season. Be sure to follow me for updated adventures! @hellofrankenbery

Cheers!

October is the most wonderful time of the year

October is the most wonderful time of the year

If you don't know, october is my favorite month. I can't imagine living in a world without October. I love stepping on crunchy leaves and wearing dark purple lipstick. I love the cheesy halloween decorations that I put up with my dad and carving pumpkins. This adventure last Sunday was at the Farm at Swans Trail.  Petting zoos, hand dipped corn dogs, and a little chilly sunshine made for the perfect day.

Making memories in the Kitchen.

I solemly swear that I will start to post more because I GOT A NEW CAMERA. Canon 70D to be specific. I need to update some of the adventures that I have recently been on. Here is a cozy adventure right from the kitchen. Best. Grilled Cheese. EVER.

We took the ferry to Kingston and drove passed Port Angles up to Hurricane Ridge. We had a beautiful 17 mile drive up the mountain road with plenty of places to stop and appreciate the scenery. We weren't quite ready to wrap up our trip, so we looked up other nearby places and I discovered WTA (Washington Trail Association) which allows you to access trip reports and nearby trails and parks.

A combination of PVC pipes, paper, masquerade masks and some creativity during my party this weekend and you get some great results in our homemade photo booth. Here are some of my silly friends being awesome at life. These are my favorites.

Wow, lets just start off with I suck. Blogging constantly is hard. But good news is i've been focuses a lot of my time and energy into planning my travel expedition after graduation and saving up for a nice camera. Which equals more photos! Abbie just got back from Thailand and New Zealand and has convinced me to fly to New Zealand rather than Australia off the bat. We had a lovely time catching up and eating at one of my very favorite restaurants, Green Lake Bar and Grill. This place has the best. cheapest. happy hour food. and is so conveniently close by. Here are a few fun portraits that we took today.

Interior decorating + Ordering In with Grubhub

Was the greatest. (My posts seem to always have that opening statement, but I swear something about this night...) It was such a reward to be done with school today and just RELAX. I feel like it was the first night since we got back from Montana that we actually got a break.

We decided to take a little date night to target where we got some cute new bathroom essentials men never seem to think they need. While he cleaned up his apartment I set up the new shower bar, towels, and shower curtain. I wish we took before photos but just picture this:

atrocity. WITHOUT A SHOWER CURTAIN.

ha ha. Anyways here are the after pictures of the new setup!

Once the bathroom was done, I got to experience GrubHub. Basically, any metro area has people that will deliver food to you. So lets say you were craving thai and italian, they will go to each restaurant pick it up and deliver it right to you. THE BEST. Sorry for the kinda of blurry iPhone photos– I was in a rush to eat : ) Going to finish this evening off with fleece blankets and Dexter. It's crazy that January is already basically over. It's making summer seem like it's in the distant future. I can't wait.

Montana Road trip: Olloclip adventures

This weekend was purely brilliant and I am still in a daze from it. I packed completely wrong and slept most of the car ride, while the boys jammed to heavy metal and rock music. (I'm a very heavy sleeper.) Nevertheless here are some great photos on the drive up there. We stopped quite a few times to take some photos. (Okay, maybe more than a few) I also got to try out my new Olloclip, which is so neat! It's a lens you attach to your iphone to take fisheye, macro, and wide angle shots. Really highlights the beautiful camera power that Apple has designed. Here is a photo of me using it:

This is my glamorous friend, Nick.

I'll post our adventures that we had when we got to Montana later on. In the meantime I am still trying to locate all my essentials that got lost in Pete (the rabbit) on the car ride back home. This was after as we were leaving. Pretty huh?

The "Town" of Woodway

Edmonds waterfront is a prime location for viewing on a sunny day like yesterday. (Also known for restaurants like Demetris and Arnies. My friend Stella and I decided we were going to stop by my new favorite coffee shop, Red Twig and bust out some homework. This place has open mic nights every Thursday and some very awesome people who will serve you coffee. (Kitchen is usually open until 3pm, and serves paninis, quesedillas, and salads) IMG_6305_FotorIMG_6311_Fotor

The sun was too tempting however and I had to get to work, but not before we got some really cool shots up on the hill.

I no longer have the video file, but this video I posted on this day never fails to take away my stress, I revisit it all the time. http://statigr.am/viewer.php#/detail/499564507990920868_198208138

Finished up the evening with a large dinner at an unknown mexican restauruant with a gay waiter who bought my friends boyfriend a margarita.

Reminscing the Past: Crescent Bar

IMG_0305

IMG_0305

One of those memories that was purely awesome primarily because of the people you were with. This was last summer, when all of my best friends went on a roadtrip to Crescent Bar to see John Mayer at the Gorge.

We stayed at Wild Horse Campground in George, Wa. I was pretty impressed with how our campsite turned out (Photo below). A tip for you all: DON'T FORGET LIGHT. We spent every night in the dark because someone forgot the lantern. (Not pointing fingers though!)

The drive down was amazing. We took the scenic route, stopping at Snoqualmie Falls. Also drove passed these awesome wind towers. Live it.
